Description
SIM trays across Motorola's Moto G lineup are NOT interchangeable — the original Moto G used Micro-SIM, the 2nd and 3rd Generation stayed with Micro-SIM, while the Moto G5 switched to Nano-SIM. This silver replacement tray fits the Moto G5 (XT1676/XT1677) only.
Compatibility Details
This tray is built for the Motorola Moto G5 (XT1676/XT1677), which runs a dual Nano-SIM configuration. Both SIM slots are physical — no eSIM, no hybrid microSD sharing. You get two independent Nano-SIM slots, period.
Models that do NOT fit this tray:
- Moto G (XT1032/XT1033) — uses Micro-SIM format, smaller dimensions (129.9 x 65.9mm vs 144.3 x 73mm)
- Moto G 2nd Gen (XT1068) — Micro-SIM or dual Micro-SIM, different tray design for thinner 11mm body
- Moto G 3rd Gen (XT1540-XT1550) — switched to Nano-SIM but uses thicker 11.6mm body with different internal layout
- Moto G Power (2020/XT2041) — single Nano-SIM only, larger 159.85mm body with different tray positioning
- Moto G 5G Plus (XT2075) — dual Nano-SIM but larger 168mm body requires completely different tray dimensions
Device-Specific Context
The Moto G5 combines a plastic back with an aluminum frame — a budget-conscious build that still feels premium in hand. The silver tray sits flush with that aluminum frame, maintaining the clean lines along the phone's edge. While this 2017 release lacks IP water resistance, it does have P2i nano-coating for basic splash protection. After installing the new tray, make sure it seats completely flush — any gap breaks that coating's effectiveness. The Moto G5's removable 2800mAh battery and Turbo Power charging made it a solid daily driver, and a working SIM tray keeps both lines connected whether you're running work and personal numbers or a local SIM plus a backup.
Color Matching
This silver tray matches the Fine Gold variant of the Moto G5. The phone also released in Lunar Grey — if you have that version, check dastyab.pk for a gray tray option that blends better with the darker aluminum frame.
Practical Information
The Moto G5 launched in 2017, making it seven years old as of 2024. Replacement parts are getting scarcer in Pakistan, but dastyab.pk still stocks these trays. Whether this repair makes sense depends on your usage — if the phone still handles calls, WhatsApp, and light browsing without lag, a new tray is far cheaper than upgrading. If you're already feeling the Snapdragon 430's age in daily use, this might be the time to consider a newer device. Stock is available now with cash on delivery across Pakistan.
